My Qualifications
I don't have a degree in art from any college, but in addition to taking art classes throughout High School, I have made a personal study of art. While I have read books on Art History, my main areas of study have been the creative processes of making images, and the psycology of art. That is, what makes a piece of art appeal to the human psyche. What constitutes good composition, how design guides the eye of the viewer through the image, and how color affects the emotional content and reception.
Probably, in my opinion, my most important qualification is my intense passion for my art!
I have been practicing photography for over 35 years, and people are my favorite subjects.
I apprenticed under a Master Photographer for 3 years as I was developing my style and my portfolio.
I completed the Masters Curriculum of the New York Institute of Photography in 1982 with top honors.
I have managed the photography departments of a number of professional companies.
My Lifestyle Portraits have been published in books, magazines and advertisments world wide.
My one-man-show featuring Fine Art Portraits of local movers and shakers, was hosted at major venues and was on display for over four months around Oahu in 2004.
I have been the Director of Photography for Paramount Photography Hawaii since 1993.
