Children's Fine Art Portraits
Being a Hawaii Fine Art Children's Portrait Photographer is a most excellent responsibility. And one I value highly. Children are our future, as the song goes. And as that implies they grow into adults. Babies are toddlers before you get used to them being babies. Then before you know it they're High School Seniors, then off to college or careers, and, WOW! They're adults!
We can't, and shouldn't try to prevent it. We can only treasure the time with them as it goes, and they grow. However, we can and should preserve those miraculous times and milestones in our children's lives with beautiful portraits. Fine portraits that not only record their visual appearance, but also reveal their personalities and real expressions.
I love kids! There's still a lot of "kid" in me, and it usually gets out when I'm working with children in a portrait session. I find that the best portraits of young children "occur", rather than are "made". That is, when the stage is set, so to speak, and the child or children are allowed to be themselves, that's when the best, most insightful portraits are created.
As a Hawaii Fine Art Portrait Photographer I've learned that sometimes a child will require a lot of patience in order for them to get comfortable enough to relax and be themselves so we can get some good portrait images. That's not a problem for me. I allow for as much time as may be necessary to insure success for the portrait session.
On the other hand, often small children, infants and 2 to 5 year olds just can't stay interested enough to enable portrait creation for more than 20 to 30 minutes. That's fine too. As long as the stage is set, that is the portrait studio is ready, or the portrait location is set up and composed, and I'm ready, I can work very quickly and achieve several good portrait images that will produce beautiful finished Fine Portraits.
